Oh my god, I'm doing it again...

I have been planning on finishing the TT again for a couple of years now, but when I got the confirmation email yesterday, my heart went pitter-pat (reality sets in):

End Date:
21 June 2008, Saturday

Thank you for registering for the Terrible Two, Sonoma County's toughest cycling event.

197 miles, 16,480' of climbing, 17 hour time limit

It permanently changed me as a cyclist and person. I couldn't make excuses after getting through the "longer anniversary route" in 2005. This time, I'm getting the t-shirt!

Miles 80-100 should be especially lovely. Enjoy!

missing AVC for 200 miles?!

c'mon, just about the time when you want to die, you could have raced the Miss 'n Out-- where everyone is a winner. You could have been done after 1 lap!

Butt, legs, back, arms, brain . . . everything's gotta hurt after 200 miles! Actually, before 200 miles, like, around mile 70. That's hardcore, Katie! It was nice seeing you out there this weekend!

Actually, with all the climbing, the tush doesn't get as sore as other doubles. It's amazing what a good saddle and chamois can do.

What hurts most about this one is mile 170-- Fort Ross Road (18% grade at one point). You have to summon every last ounce of strength you have left to get up that.

Last time, I woke up the next morning feeling like I had been in a prize fight-- my hands and forearms were so sore from all of the technical steep descents. At every rest stop they warned me about the upcoming downhill. By the last rest stop I was like "Okay, I know what you're going to say." You don't get a chance to rest on the downhills.

It's very beautiful and the support is awesome(the Santa Rosa bike club treats you like a rock star). It would be a major accomplishment to be in under the 10:00 cut off.
